An Extra 60 PS
If there's one thing that the Jeep Grand Cherokee lacked, it's a very fast diesel version able to take on those 300+ HP BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi diesel SUVs.
Of course, let's not get too ahead of ourselves and think that that's the only thing that separates the Grand Cherokee from say, a BMW X5 - because it's not.
Looking at the stock 3.0 V6 CRD we can see that at its best it delivers 250 PS and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque, helping it get from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 202 km/h (125 mph).
Unfortunately for JEEP owners, that's nowhere near as fast as a flagship V6 turbodiesel SUV should be in the year 2015. On top of that, if you want to go any faster in the Grand Cherokee, you have no choice but to purchase the much more expensive SRT version - which isn't a hell of a lot faster than say a BMW X5/X6 xDrive40d.
These modern day diesel SUVs are crazy quick, which is why we're glad that B&B have thought to give the Grand Cherokee more of a fighting chance.
What they've done is that they've prepared two different packages. First you have the Stage 1 pack that comes with a new air intake and a modified ECU, giving you a total of 295 PS and 640 Nm (472 lb-ft) of peak torque.
Stage 2 on the other hand will turn your V6 CRD Grand Cherokee into a 310 PS, 670 Nm (494 lb-ft) beast, which also raises the car's top speed from the previously mentioned 202 km/h (125 mph) to 215 km/h (133 mph).
Yes, it's still not fast enough for moving people out of your way on the Autobahn, but the extra bump in power and torque especially should be felt as soon as you accelerate - both off the line and during overtaking maneuvers.
Aside from the performance mods, B&B is also offering customers the possibility of lowering the ride height on their Grand Cherokees by 40 mm (1.5 inches) as well as to install a stainless steel sports exhaust system.
Oh, and yes, those 22" black alloys work very well with the white exterior, don't you think?
