Jeep Wrangler Is 665 Pieces Of Awesome
If the Lego Technic Land Rover Defender was too rich for your blood, perhaps the new Jeep Wrangler will do the trick.
Inspired by the rough-and-tumble Wrangler Rubicon, the latest Lego Technic kit is the brand’s first-ever Jeep.
While it’s not the most detailed model ever built, it’s undeniably a Wrangler as it features a seven-slot grille, circular headlights and a roll cage. The model also boasts meaty tires, a working suspension and a four-wheel drive system.
If that wasn’t enough, the Wrangler has a working winch and a functional steering system. The hood and doors also open and close, while the rear seat can be folded up and down.
The model is constructed out of 665 individual pieces and is designed for children who are at least nine years old. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Wrangler also appeals to a number of adults.
While the Lego Technic Jeep Wrangler would be a perfect Christmas gift, it won’t be launched until January 1st. That’s a bit of a bummer, but the model is more affordable than the Defender as it carries a retail price of $49.99 (€49.99 / £44.99).
In a statement, Lego Technic designer Lars Thygesen said “The Rubicon has a lot of the iconic details loved by 4×4 fans the world over, so it was important to me to pack as many of the authentic, powerful features of the real vehicle into the Lego Technic replica.” His sentiments were echoed by Jeep design boss Mark Allen, who noted the real life Wrangler is Lego-like as owners can remove the doors and roof as well as “add new pieces” in the form of accessories.
