Profile Photo
If you’re looking for love, you might want to buy a Jeep.
Citing a study by online dating company Zoosk, AskMen reports that including a picture of a Jeep in your online dating profile photo increases the number of messages users receive by a staggering 243 percent.
That’s a significant increase over the average 165 percent boost that users get simply by including a vehicle in their profile photo. Of course, not all vehicles are created equal and daters respond better to certain makes. BMW vehicles give users a 149 percent increase in messages, while Toyota models give a modest 73 percent boost.
While vans have fallen out of favor with consumers, it appears the shagging wagon is alive and well in the dating world. According to the site, vans increase the number of messages users receive by 61 percent. That’s better than the 42 percent boost from sedans and the 41 percent increase from trucks.
The van boost is a surprising, but hatchback owners might want to keep that information to themselves. The study says having a picture of a hatchback in your photo decreases the number of messages you’ll receive by 15 percent.
Just mentioning your vehicle can boost messages as well. In particular, people who mentioned a truck in their profile saw a 48 percent increase in messages. Somewhat counterintuitively, mentioning a van caused the number of messages to drop 72 percent.
In terms of brands, people respond well to users who mention premium vehicles such as BMW, Mercedes and Land Rover. On the mainstream side, you can get a boost from mentioning Ford, Nissan and Subaru.
