New 2017 Jeep Compass Is Fun To Drive
But It’s Not Flawless
The new generation of the Jeep Compass slots right between the Cherokee and the Renegade models, filling a major gap in Jeep’s range, but can it deliver the goods?
Customers in the US will be able to choose between front- and all-wheel drive versions of the new Jeep, with the latter offering two available 4x4 systems: the regular Jeep Active Drive and the Trailhawk-specific Active Drive Low which features a 20:1 crawl ratio and five different drive modes.
Unlike other regions, the US-spec Jeep Renegade comes with one engine option only, the 2.4-liter petrol four-cylinder with 180 horses and 175 pound-feet (237 Nm) of torque.
2WD models can be fitted with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission while AWD models get the nine-speed automatic gearbox as well as the aforementioned manual.
How does the new Jeep Compass fare against the established competition? KBB’s latest review video delivers their verdict.
